Miffy Headphone Cover Crochet Pattern

This is how I made the crochet Miffy Headphone covers.  This pattern is specifically made to fit Sony MDR-XB650BT headphones but feel free to slightly alter the the base in order to make it fit your own pair of headphones ☺

Materials

Fuzzy white DK Yarn

I used ISAGER ECO SOFT

2.5 mm crochet hook

Brown DK yarn (to embroider Miffy's face)

Yarn needle

Stuffing

Any toy stuffing works great but you can also use scrap yarns/fabrics. I also have taken stuffing from an old pillow that I wasn't using. Feel free to use anything you want but I recommend using white so other colours don't peak through your work.

Abbreviations

MC - Magic Circle

SL ST - Slip stitch

CH - Chain

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half double crochet

DC - Double Crochet

DEC - Decrease

This pattern has 2 parts - the ears and face. Start by working on the ears

Ears

Round 1: Start with a MC. Chain 2. 11 HDC in the MC. Tighten the MC then SL ST to the 2nd chain from beginning of round.

Round 2: Chain 2 then 2 HDC in the next stitch. 1 HDC in the next stitch then 2 HDC in the next stitch. Repeat until the end of the round and SL ST to 2nd chain from beginning of round.

Round 3 - 9: Chain 2. 1 DC in each stitch all around. SL ST to 2nd chain from beginning of round. (18 DC all around in total)

Round 10: Chain 1. 5 SC (1 in each stitch). 2 HDC. 2 DC. 2 HDC. 6 SC. SL ST to the chain in the beginning. Fasten off and leave at least 6 inches of yarn at the ens to join to its head later.

Make four.

Face

Round 1: Start with a magic circle. Chain 2 (this counts as your first DC). 11 DC in the MC. Tighten MC. SL ST to the second chain from the beginning.

Round 2: Chain 2. DC in the same stitch. 2 DC in each stitch all around. SL ST to 2nd chain from beginning of round.

Round 3: Chain 2. 2 DC in the next stitch. 1 DC in the next stitch then 2 DC in the next stitch. Repeat this all around. SL ST to 2nd chain from beginning of round.

Round 4: Chain 2. 1 DC in the next stitch then 2 DC in the next one. 1 DC each in the next 2 stitches then 2 DC in one after. Repeat this until the end of the round. SL ST to 2nd chain from beginning of round.

Note: If you have a different pair of headphones make sure that this circle covers the "face" of your headphones. If this one is still too small - add as many rounds as needed in order to cover the surface. If it's too big then decrease. Make sure it's the right size before proceeding to rounds 6 - 7

Round 5 - 6: CH 2. 1 DC in all of the stitches all around. SL ST to second chain from beginning.

Note: Rounds 6 - 7 covers the thickness of your headphones. Feel free to add or subtract the number of rounds above in order for them to be the correct thickness.

Round 7: CH 1. 1 SC in the next stitch. DEC. 1 SC in the next 2 stitches then DEC. Repeat until the end of the round. SL ST to the first chain of the round then fasten off.

Note: This round is like a lip for your headphones so it stays on.

Make two.

Assembly

Stuff the ears and sew them together. They only need to be sewn together on one spot to ensure that they stick together and don't dangle. Make sure they are facing the same way with the longer/pointier side will be facing the front. (The longer side may not be obvious but it's the side where you did 2 DC at the final round instead of SC) The point kind of hugs the curve of your headphones. Make sure the ears are centred then take your yarn needle and sew it on to the face.

Take your brown/black yarn and embroider Miffy's face.  I like to use brown yarn because I find it gives it a softer look.

And that's it! Hopefully this helps and if you have any questions feel free to message me on insta! @greenorama1
